Katie’s List of Date Ideas

This is a list of ideas that I think would make fun dates.  Some of them I have already had the opportunity to enjoy with someone, others are just things I imagine I would like.  I will continue to add to this list as I think of things.  Feel free to leave comments with your own suggestions.

  • Read separate books, but together.  With snacks.
  • Book club for two: Read the same book at an agreed-upon pace, and get together to discuss it after each chapter or assigned chunk.
  • Read a book to one another, taking turns being the reader.
  • Listen to a book on tape together while doing something else or just hanging out.
  • Go to an arcade and play air hockey, foosball, dueling pinball, skeeball, & hoop shooting.
  • Miniature golf.
  • Batting cage!
  • Ping pong or pool.
  • Bowling.
  • Play frisbee, kick a soccer ball, or play catch.
  • Have a picnic.
  • …at an outdoor concert.
  • Go exploring.
  • Make sushi at home.
  • Play Boggle or cards.
  • Have a tickle fight.
  • Fly a kite.
  • Go to the zoo.
  • Go for walks (bonus points for holding hands!)
  • Eat ice cream.
  • Work on a household project together (like painting walls).
  • Photo scavenger hunt.

I like to go to the zoo.

  2. April 25th, 2007 | 10:00 pm

    And go for walks.

  3. April 25th, 2007 | 10:01 pm

    And cook/bake.

  4. April 25th, 2007 | 10:01 pm

And paint walls (obviously this is only good if some walls need painting).

  5. April 25th, 2007 | 10:02 pm

And ice cream isn’t on this list for some insane reason.

I all those except cooking/baking, because I don’t find that fun. If he cooks for me, awesome. If it’s a special day I’ll cook for him too. But just as a date, I can think of lots of things that would be more fun.

Caving (aka speluncking), I second the cooking suggestion, hiking, canoing (bonus points for tipping the canoe - mwahaha), going to a drive-in and tailgating, ice-capades, visiting a classic movie house and seeing . . . a classic movie . . . like Mary Poppins . . . woot!

Oh, oh . . . run a short marathon together!

    Um . . . watch a meteor shower together!

    Hmmm.

Oh, create your own smörgåsbord - each person go to three separate takeout restaurant (Mediterranean, Chinese, Indian - for example) and get one dish from each place. Then, get together . . . and . . wha-la! Instant buffet with tons of different foods!

    That’s all I got.
